Marco Polo
Project Gallery
We are off to a
great start for the 2009 season. The turn out for repeat volunteers is
exceptional! The experience that they bring with them from past seasons working
on the Marco Polo Replica is helping to expand the amount of work we are able
to do. Bob tells us that since mid-May, he and his volunteers have installed
the sheer clamps and deck beams on the stern deck. They have also completed the
sub-decking and the stern planks. Bob scribed the deck lines along the bottom
of the deck houses and had them cut to fit the deck. They are now fastened in
place. Bob's photos, taken in late June, show some of the
progress during recent weeks.

Bob plans to
concentrate on the planking at the bow next. Soon, he and the volunteers will
expand their work to include the outer stem, rudder and cover board or bottom
rail. Bob would like to take this opportunity to welcome
four new volunteers to the project this year: Ken Taylor Walter Colwell George
Goss and John Pickel They bring with them the enthusiasm and energy needed to
continue the success we are having in building the Marco Polo Replica. More
photos will follow in the next few weeks.
