The Marco Polo Project

Welcome to the official site of the Marco Polo Project. This page allows you to keep track of the project's progress. Up-to-date information added as soon as it becomes available.
If your looking for information on the latest news on were the Project stands, check out our NEWS link for all the details.

HELP WANTED

Donations to help build the Marco Polo are being accepted at any TD Canada Trust in the Greater Saint John area.
The Marco Polo Project is looking for information on any artifacts sold at the wreck sale on Prince Edward Island in 1883. The Charlottetown Patriot of the day mentions sales to parties from "every, town, village and hamlet from Alberton to Georgetown and Saint John, Sackville, Moncton, Shediac, Quebec and Kouchibouquac, N.B. as well."

Dec 26, 1999 marks the 147th anniversary of the Marco Polo's world-record circumnavigation of the globe (five months, 21 days). She was declared the "fastest ship in the world" and her record, design and construction helped to put Canada on the map on Boxing Day, 1852.

The year 2000 marks the 150th anniversary of the keel laying of the Marco Polo and hopefully this is the year the Marco Polo will be honoured with the building of a replica.
